Around the Horn: Catchers


Durability has never been a problem for A.J. Pierzynski, who has proven he can handle more than his share of catching duties for the White Sox. But the two-time All-Star may have to let new Sox backstop Toby Hall do a little of the work this season.

Chicago's other teams on the move


The Bears aren't the only Chicago sports team to make a big move in mid-January. The White Sox signed Darin Erstad. The Cubs signed Cliff Floyd. Both clubs are better now than they were a week earlier.

Around the Horn: Middle Infielders


The White Sox middle infield combo of shortstop Juan Uribe and second baseman Tadahito Iguchi seems to be set for next season. Then again, a lot could change before the first pitch of 2007, especially if Uribe's ongoing legal troubles keep him from playing.

The White Sox headed back to Chicago from baseball's annual Winter Meetings on Thursday but not before addressing rumors that right-hander Jon Garland was set to be dealt to Houston. "We've got nothing going on," general manager Kenny Williams said.
