Offense leads White Sox past Rays


Jermaine Dye hit a three-run homer in the first inning, Joe Crede had four hits and the White Sox took advantage of a wild Casey Fossum with four more runs in the second as they defeated Tampa Bay, 12-9, on Tuesday night.

Sox help city win Sporting News honor


It may be nicknamed the Second City, but Chicago finished first in the Sporting News' 13th annual Best Sports City Award. Before Wednesday's game against the Yankees at U.S. Cellular Field, representatives from the Bulls, Cubs, Blackhawks, Rush, Sky, Fire, Wolves, Northwestern University, DePaul University and White Sox took the field to be recognized.

White Sox fall in opener at Dome


Boof Bonser was just strong enough to make it through 5 1/3 innings without a great deal of damage, and the Minnesota offense did the rest during a 7-3 victory over the defending World Series champions before 43,204 Friday night.
